Lammia (“liàme”) means: “a country house with barrel vaulted ceilings”.  The key features of these dwellings are the dry stone exterior walls and spacious internal rooms with high vaulted ceilings. The external roof is flat as this is where the farmers dried their fruit in ancient times.
